DEAR SIR,

Are milkmen to be a vanishing race –
Endangered species hard to trace?
A moa may lurk in Fiordland’s fastness,
Are Milk Rounds to be marked by sparseness?

Cheese wrappers saved the yellow-eyed penguin –
What to collect to save our Milkmen?
Stewart Island Robins saved by relocation –
But where, oh where is the Treatment Station
That formed our milkman’s habitat,
Can anybody tell me that?

Rationalised and more efficient
Milk deliveries insufficient
Vanishing like milk horse and cart
Do that last of the “Good Old Days” depart?

Yours faithfully

M Holmes.
