The Council sent an Inspector—
A Mr Wolfe from the Building sector
To check on the work of Builders named Swine
Whose buildings never quite toed the line.
The very first house the Inspector saw,
looked so flimsy it could have been straw.
He made a note—it will have to go
It will collapse in the first real blow.
He put a red sticker on the door
And hurried off to check some more.
The next one showed someone had a bit of nous,
It was a sturdy little wooden house
But—untreated timber, native timber too,
No that really would not do
This time he had to fix
The notice on a barricade of sticks.
By now Mr Wolfe was very vetted
As he hurried off to view the next.
It was the last one in his book
At the Swines’ own house he had to look.
Hmm, This one would last a while,
Walls of brick and roof of tile.
It did look so very strong
There must be something that was wrong!
The door was locked—he wouldn’t come another day
He would enter in his usual way—
Now.
OW!
That chimney is hot—the rotten liars
They said heatpumps had replaced those fires
Insulated. Double glazed
Mr Wolfe was not fazed.
